Nestled in the heart of Fort Lauderdale at 330 W State Rd 84, Anthony's Runway 84 is a distinguished Italian restaurant and cocktail bar that masterfully combines rich culinary tradition with a unique, nostalgic atmosphere. From the moment you step inside this striking building—designed to resemble an airplane hangar complete with a control tower—you are transported into a vibrant 1960s nightclub ambiance. The warm holiday decorations, plush felt booths, and the smooth sounds of live music create an inviting backdrop that elevates every dining experience.

Anthony's Runway 84 is a sanctuary for lovers of authentic Italian cuisine served with finesse and passion. Their menu boasts a carefully curated selection of classic dishes that marry bold flavors with exquisite technique. Signature items like the Caesar Salad are fresh and crisp, perfectly balancing the richer entrees. The Chicken Vodka Parmigiana and Chicken Scarparello showcase tender, succulent poultry bathed in savory, tangy sauces that promise comfort with sophistication. Seafood lovers will delight in the Mussels in Red Wine and the Clams Oreganata, both dishes exhibiting fresh ocean flavors enriched by herbs and subtle spice.

For those seeking heartier options, the New York Strip Steak and Lamb Chops offer prime cuts cooked to perfection, their juicy textures enhanced by complementary sides like the Twice Baked Potato. Pasta offerings such as the Rigatoni Filetto Di Pomodoro and Rigatoni with Broccoli Rabe & Sausage are crafted with al dente precision, delivering rustic Italian flavors elevated by quality ingredients. Don't miss the decadent desserts—Cannoli, Tiramisu Cake, and the famously seductive Pistachio Cake—which leave a lasting impression with each bite.

But what truly sets Anthony’s Runway 84 apart is the combination of attentive service and ambiance. Guests have praised waitstaff members like Jacob for their blend of professionalism and genuine warmth, making diners feel welcomed and well-cared-for throughout the meal. One visitor described the service as “fine dining with a pleasant personality,” encapsulating the restaurant’s perfect balance of elegance without stiffness.

The cocktail menu is equally impressive, featuring classics like expertly mixed Martinis and inventive creations such as the Anejo Old Fashioned, which creatively uses tequila to produce a smooth, robust flavor profile appreciated even by discerning palates.

The overall vibe strikes a beautiful chord between lively and intimate—ideal for a romantic first date or a celebratory night out. Guests have repeatedly mentioned the lovely balance between enjoying live entertainment and being able to carry on conversations, especially in private areas like the Cypress Room, where the music is an enchanting background rather than a distraction.

While some reviews note minor imperfections, such as slightly overcooked baked clams or desserts that didn’t quite reach spectacular heights, the consensus remains overwhelmingly positive. Anthony's Runway 84 clearly stands as a culinary landmark in Fort Lauderdale, a place where tradition meets theatrical flair and each dish tells a story of Italian heritage interpreted with care and creativity.

Whether you are craving a comforting plate of Chicken Parmesan or seeking the rare pleasure of dining in a richly atmospheric setting reminiscent of a glamorous era, Anthony’s Runway 84 promises an experience that delights the senses and warms the heart.

This was the best Italian food that we have had outside of Italy! The building looks like a hanger with a control tower sticking out of the top. We entered and were immersed in holiday decorations and and beautiful 60s club atmosphere with felt booths and live music. Our waiter, Jacob, gave use the best service that we have ever had at a restaurant. It was fine dining with a pleasant personality. The artichoke and calamari appetizers were excellent. The tableside Ceasar salad was was fun to watch and tasted fresh and was rich in flavor. We had veal and chicken vodka with rigatoni pasta. The portions are enough for 3 to 4 people. The flavors were rich and delicious. The chocolate cake was rich and moist and large enough for 3 to 4 people. We will be back the next time we are in town.

Anthony’s Runway 84: A Love Story Gone Complicated The “First Date” Magic: Like any great romance, it started with excitement and that magical Pistachio Cake – the kind of dessert that makes you believe in love at first bite. The traditional Italian fare swept me off my feet, the service was attentive without being clingy, and I left with that giddy “I can’t wait to see them again” feeling. The Awkward “We Need to Talk” Moment… But first, let me rewind to the pre-first-date disaster. Trying to make a reservation was like texting someone who leaves you on “read.”Their website ghosted me when I tried to put down a credit card for the no-show deposit. I called (shocked they actually picked up – green flag & “yay”!) gave all my info, mentioned it was a BIRTHDAY dinner, got confirmation… and then showed up to find out I didn’t exist in their system. WHATT??? Embarrassing! Cue the hostess giving me a full-on interrogation like I was trying to catfish the restaurant. It was the dining equivalent of your meal being dropped on the floor.. Mortifying. After I finally asked, “Are we doing this or not?” – she seated us, but not before delivering the “you have two hours, max” speech like a curfew from an overprotective parent. Rude? Check… But then the food arrived and suddenly all was forgiven. (Even though the floor manager was perhaps a touch too “friendly…” — okay, wayyyy too friendly…) The Second Date Reality Check: You know that moment when the rose-colored glasses slip and you’re like, “Wait… is this person actually right for me, was that actually the “stink eye” or my imagination?” Visit two was that moment. They were out of my beloved Pistachio Cake. AND out of the entree I wanted… And we got seated in the left dining room – the restaurant equivalent of getting stuck at the table next to the bathroom – right by the door and adjacent to a bachelorette party that had clearly pre-gamed HARD. The loud, chaotic energy was giving “get me outta here, they’re about to dance on the table vibes…” The Verdict: It’s Complicated… I have a lot of “love” but I’m super cautious & would never bring a large family event here, or someone who likes to leisurely enjoy their 2 or 3 hundred dollar bottle of wine, because they won’t, they’ll feel rushed… it’s the “turn em’ & burn em” restaurant culture… The waiters? Still excellent both times – consistent, reliable, like the friend who never lets you down. But the overall experience? It’s like dating the smartest person you’ve ever met, gorgeous & charming who occasionally forgets you exist — I’m left in that torturous place of not knowing if this is “the one” or if I’m just holding onto that first-date magic. It’s exhilarating, unpredictable, and one visit away from either becoming my forever favorite or the heartbreaking place I dramatically tell my friends to “never mention again.” Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars – Would I go back? Ask me after I’ve processed my feelings. (We’ll go 4 Star w optimism for the next visit…).

Heard do many wonderful things about this restaurant. The Christmas decorations lived up to the hype for sure. Food : I had baked clams for appetizer and they were over cooked, you could see by looking at it. I got Chicken parmesan and it was huge. Chicken was tender, but I can't say it was fabulous. Pistachio cake was also huge, and it was good but not spectacular.

I had a b-day dinner here and was so happy with my choice. We were seated in the Cypress Room which is located just past the entrance to the left. I'm grateful for being seated there because we were able to hear each other easily while having enough exposure to the music and were even able to see the band on a TV they have set up. I got the Beef Braciole which was tender and delicious followed by a decadent tiramisu. Our server Christopher was attentive and thorough but not overly formal which my party really appreciated. The wines are a bit pricey at this establishment, but the total bill was not too bad considering the atmosphere, service, and quality of food. I would happily come back here!

First time at this long term historic establishment that doesn’t need my review to boost their reputation. It 100% lives up to its bucket list food destination eatery. We started with cocktails, while my friend (and driver) opted for just a red wine, I splurged with the Anejo Old Fashioned, which as the name implied is made with tequila….outstanding!. Our apps consisted of the Eggplant Marino, which if you love eggplant, the way it should be done(razor thin stacks, without that heavy cheese that it mistakenly gets associated with) sign up here….again, outstanding. In addition, we ordered the Shrimp Oreganata, which was also “lights out” delicious. They were so good, we forgot to snap photos of those and btw, we both have huge appetites and we were both approaching full after that. The eggplant even split, is a huge portion and even though relatively light, was very filling. Our entrees (and yes, we over ordered) were: The swordfish and the chicken parm, w vodka sauce (a house specialty) plus we also ordered the paccheri bolognese for “ the table” The portions were so large, we needed up taking half of everything home. All entrees were excellent, especially the chicken parm and bolognese. Will return for a special occasion as the pocketbook was definitely challenged, but that’s what quality at great restaurants costs these days.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great experience overall. The Christmas decorations were well done and added a festive touch without feeling over the top. It made the atmosphere feel warm and lively while still keeping the restaurant’s classic character. We had accidentally booked our reservation for the wrong day, and the staff was very accommodating in getting us seated anyway. Everything was handled smoothly and professionally, which we really appreciated. Service was attentive, the room had great energy, and the night flowed easily from start to finish. Always a solid choice, especially around the holidays.
